Mandela grew up in the village if Qunu. His father served as a local chief. Though both His parents were illiterate, they sent him to school as they realise the importance of education. He was the only native African in his class, after becoming a fully-fledged attorney, he formed the congress of the people in 1995. Mandela was arrested for illegal exit from the country. He spent 18 of his 27 years sentence before being released. He made history as the first elected black president in their country.
